Now try placing Newtek and Autodesk in a side by side setup. Applications such as Photoshop, Maya and whatever needs to get a major overhaul to run as a native Cocoa application. Why? Because the thing is written in Carbon, and Apple has decided not to introduce 64 bit native applications using Carbon. ![]() Maya is a pretty old lady, a workhorse, a friend, whatever, but not a 64-bit old woman. I was looking for a plugin at Flay, when I saw some forum post about the 9.6.1 beta. This might be old news for many, but that’s irrelevant for this post anyway. There is one thing that caught me by surprise the other day. Screen real-estate and minimal distraction, right? Sure, it isn’t as intuitive as many other apps out there when you’re starting out, but most people usually hide as much of the UI elements when they get comfortable with any application. The product ships with batteries included. ![]() Reason? There are plenty, but the thing I’m focusing on now is: Lightwave has been (and still is) a choice for several 3D studios, in all sizes. They’ve given out every god damned updates to their major releases for free, for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been impressed by the folks at Newtek.

4/19/2023 0 Comments Impression dental![]() As dentists, we have no right to criticize the efficacy of a technique when we don’t use it properly. ![]() Unfortunately, they too often aren’t taken to heart by our profession. The 3 points above apply not just to impression-taking but to virtually every dental procedure. But for all the benefits of digital impressions, there are many situations for which analog impressions are not only highly relevant but clearly preferable. In contrast, digital impressions are much easier for both practitioner and patient. However, it’s very difficult for the practitioner and very uncomfortable for the patient. The fact is that, with the proper technique, it is still possible to use a simple copper band to create a wonderful impression. Using the right materials with those techniques.Using those techniques precisely the way they are designed to be used, and.The key, as I will discuss below, is to create these analog impressions by: Figures 1 and 2 dramatically illustrate just how far we’ve come with dental impression technology. ![]() 1970s-a new generation of elastomeric impression materials was introduced, offering more viscosity and elasticity, similar to rubber-based materials, and enabling surface materials to be captured even more accurately.Īnd, of course, now we have the option of taking digital impressions.1960s-reversible hydrocolloid impression materials gained popularity due to the major advancement these hydrophilic materials brought in terms of capturing accurate impressions despite the presence of saliva and blood.1950s-elastomeric impression materials were introduced, featuring silicon-based materials, polyethers, and polysulfides.1940s-alginate materials were introduced.1800s-wax or plaster of Paris dominated. Here’s a brief history of the impression materials our profession has relied on over the last century-and-a-half: IMPRESSION-TAKING MATERIALS: HOW FAR WE’VE COME And that maxim is particularly true with dental impressions. Only when you can check all 3 boxes-great art, great science, and great business-will you be able to achieve sustained success in your practice. Or you could do a very quick procedure that will earn you a lot on a per-hour basis, but it wouldn’t be based on sound science or look beautiful and ultimately wouldn’t be acceptable to patients. Conversely, you could make a front crown out of solid titanium that will last forever, but it won’t be beautiful, and the patient will not accept it. You can create a beautiful restoration out of different shades of soap, but it won’t last because it’s built on bad science, and it won’t be good business because it will not last. Business-being able to affordably reproduce procedures in a timely manner.Science-using an evidence-based approach incorporating the latest research.Metaphorically speaking, I believe that dental success rests on the following “3-legged stool”: In that case, you are probably aware of my deep conviction that true success in private practice comes only when the dentist consistently finds the balance between the art, science, and business of dentistry. Suppose you have read any of my other articles or attended any of my lectures. This article is intended to shed what I hope will be some helpful light on the past, present, and future of dental impressions.īALANCING THE ART, SCIENCE, AND BUSINESS OF DENTAL IMPRESSIONS Second, many dentists of all ages are uncertain about the role-and even the very existence-of conventional dental impressions in the era of digital dentistry. Two other observations also strike me: First, it is virtually impossible for younger dentists to fully appreciate just how far the practice of dental impressions has come in the past 70 years. As I contemplate my 42-year career, I am struck by how much progress has been made in the field of dentistry in general and in dental impressions in particular. 4/19/2023 0 Comments Budget auto sales![]() ![]() ![]() So if you are looking to buy a cheap car, then look no further than DesperateSeller where you will find all the choice you need on one website. I thought PL would open at least multi-layered Tiff files - and I seem to recall that it used to support that? Since Photoline creates them, I thought it would be feasible. Although the latest version of PL does support the basic layers, Smart objects are again a PS feature, and should not be expected to function anywhere else. Avoid if you can - support is extremely spotty and confused in applications beyond Adobe. Herbert123 hat geschrieben:Layered Tiff files were introduced by Adobe, and circumvent the 'official' Tiff standard. We cannot (not should we) expect PSD files to open properly in other applications when those files include Photoshop-only features. In a nutshell: rasterizing layers with Photoshop-specific functionality is the norm. And newer versions of Photoshop write PSD files that may be wholly incompatible with older versions as well. What I am trying to say here, is that when people start using PSD files as a general purpose exchange format, we as the users should be careful in how we prep those files before sending them over - especially so when we are aware that other people down the pipeline are working in other software than Photoshop. Photoline opens those files without a hitch, so why is Photoshop refusing to open those files? I tried opening those in Photoshop, but Photoshop cops out with an error. It also works the other way around: I have several astronomy related PSD files which are wider than the 300,000 pixels physical limit Photoshop allows for. If PSD files are exchanged with users who do not work in Photoshop (or have to process those files in some way), those type of layers must be rasterized before sending them off to users who work in other applications that work with PSD files. ![]() So is the new artboard option in CC2015, and its new layer effects options. The 3d and video support are two examples. Photoshop includes many very specific features which cannot be supported by any other application but for Photoshop itself. As a side note, Affinity Photo deals with smart objects (it essentially rasterizes the layer), maybe this would be a more realistic approach here? And I want to produce compatible files for them, too. I see what you mean, but I want to rely on the software not only for my files but for those I receive from people who work with Photoshop/Illustrator as well.

This will allow you to apply the volume of each section using the constant depth formula. Treat the shallow and deep ends as separate pools. If your pool has a definitive drop between the shallow and deep ends, the average depth will be different, even if the shallow end and deep end are still, for example, 3 feet and 9 feet, respectively. Finally, multiply that figure by 7.5 to calculate the volume of the pool in gallons.įor example, if your pool is 32 feet long, 16 feet wide, and has an average depth of 6 feet: Next, multiply your pool’s length and width and then multiply that number by the average depth. Add the shallow end depth to the deep end depth, and divide by 2.įor example, if your pool’s shallow end is 3 feet, and the deep end is 9 feet, the average depth is 6 feet. First, determine the pool’s average depth. If your rectangular pool has more than one depth (shallow end, deep end), you’ll need to do a little more math. The formula for finding the volume of a rectangular pool with one depth (no shallow or deep end) is L × W × D × 7.5 = V (in gallons).įor example, if your swimming pool is 32 feet long, 16 feet wide, and 4 feet deep: How you calculate your volume will depend on how the bottom of your pool is laid out. Let’s see what this looks like with different pool shapes. So in order to figure out how many gallons your pool holds, you’ll multiply your final cubic foot measurement by 7.5 to find the volume of your pool. Then throw in your pool’s depth and you’ll get basic volume calculation.Īnother key part of your equation: one cubic foot of water contains 7.5 gallons. Multiply the length and width to get the surface area of a rectangular pool. And to do that, you’ll need a few basic metrics: To get your pool’s volume, you need to calculate your pool’s surface area and average depth. It’s an easy-to-follow guide to help you keep your pool clean and clear. And always measure the depth of your water, not the height of your wall.īy the way, if you’re struggling with knowing which pool chemicals to add and when, be sure to check out our Pool Care Video Course. You’ll always get more accurate results if you measure your pool yourself. You can use the pool volume reference chart below to quickly calculate the volume of these common pool sizes. We cover how to calculate the volume of an irregular-shaped pool at the end of this guide. If you have a more complicated shaped pool, you’ll need to run a few other calculations. But the rounding isn’t enough to throw off your water chemistry calculations. Note: The calculator rounds up decimal points, which makes it easier to calculate chemical dosing. You want to know how much water is in your pool, and it’s probably not filled up to the top. Be sure to measure from the depth of your water, not the height of the wall or the depth of the pool. 4/19/2023 0 Comments Liquid death mountain waterThe decks sold out quickly, said Cessario, but making the decks, as well as lining up a phlebotomist who could “legally draw blood and was willing to be on camera” took some time, he said with a laugh.
